Memorial services honour the deceased through various tributes. They can be held instead of, or in addition to, a funeral service which involves burial or cremation.
In Spain, due to the climate and lack of embalming facilities, burials or cremations occur within 24 to 48 hours of death.
If mourners can't attend the funeral, a memorial service can be organised for later, allowing time for tribute preparation and location selection.
During these services, readings or eulogies may be given, often with a celebrant's help. Mourners may also participate in other commemorative activities.
